Now, Asia’s biggest music festival, Sunburn will be reprised on the big screen by a bunch of Indian filmmakers.

Three production houses — Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Percept Pictures and Phantom Films of Mr Anurag Kashyap have come together to make the largest music and event experience ‘Sunburn’ into Sunburn — The Movie.

In its fifth year, Sunburn has been ranked amongst the world’s top ten music festivals. Seven directors have joined hands to put together a first of its kind feature film on this music festival that has become a cult in more ways than one.

The film will be creatively mentored by Phantom Films and Viacom 18 will distribute and market the movie.

The project, spearheaded by Mr Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films, will be a combination of real and fiction and was shot at the recently concluded festival in December.

“Sunburn is not only a world-class music festival, but is also a great platform to get real life stories. We are happy to join hands with Percept and Viacom 18 for making a film around the festival and launching seven new directors.

“Seven short films have been weaved together to make one interesting plot,” Mr Vikas Bahl from Phantom Film told presspersons last night.

The seven new directors include Mr Kaushik Mukherjee of Gandu fame, Mr Mozez Singh, Mr Shlok Sharma, Mr Vasan Bala, Mr Rahi Anil Barve, Ms Rukhsana Tabassum and Mr Jason Taylor. Stories from the Sunburn music fest will now be retold by these directors in their own distinctive style.
