Rishi Sunak, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy's son-in-law, has been elected the Conservative MP for Richmond–Yorks, in North Yorkshire.

The 34-year-old Sunak, who won 51 per cent of the votes, replaces former Foreign Secretary William Hague. In a statement, Murthy said: “I am very happy that Rishi has won convincingly. He and Akshata worked very hard, beat the pavement and communicated his merit, integrity and his vision for his constituency. He has big shoes to fill since he is succeeding William Hague.”
