Greek civil servants launched a two-day strike on Tuesday to protest against planned public sector job cuts which was considered necessary to ensure the country receiving bailout funds.

The strike affected schools, hospitals and tax offices.

The government plans to axe 15,000 jobs by the end of 2014, including 4,000 this year.

Some journalists joined the strike for three hours in a show of solidarity.
