Washington, Jan 6 The US Senate is to vote on Monday on the confirmation of Janet Yellen as the next Chairman of the central bank.

Yellen, 67, currently Vice-Chairman of the Federal Reserve, is expected to be approved to replace the outgoing Chairman Ben Bernanke in February. She would be the first woman to chair the central bank.

Yellen’s main task will be to oversee the exit from the country’s unprecedented loose monetary policy, while making sure the current economic recovery is not put at risk.
