MRPL narrows Q1 loss to ₹36 crore

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has recorded a loss of ₹36 crore during the first quarter of 2014-15 against a loss of ₹454 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. A press release by the company said the refining throughput was 3.20 million tonnes during Q1 of the current fiscal against 3.27 million tonnes in the corresponding previous quarter. It attributed the shortfall to the planned shutdown during the quarter. There was an inventory gain of ₹34 crore (₹148 crore). Gross turnover stood at ₹16,653 crore (₹16,134 crore). On Monday, the scrip of MRPL closed at ₹64.40 on the BSE, up 2.06 per cent, against the previous close of ₹63.10.
