H Kumar takes charge as MRPL managing director

H Kumar, who was appointed as the Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), by the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on August 7, took charge in Mangalore on August 14.

A press release by the company said here on Thursday that Kumar has over three decades of professional experience across the entire gamut of petroleum functions. Prior to this, he was Executive Director (Corporate Strategy and Planning) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).

He was instrumental in HPCL projects such as construction and commissioning of the 356-km Mangalore-Bangalore Pipeline and in the construction of Mangalore LPG Import Facility project.

NANO programme

He conceptualised the NANO (No Automation No Operation) programme at HPCL to ensure quality and quantity of fuel dispensed through the retail outlets chain.

The release said that the output of the NANO programme is an industry benchmark. It has been included as a parameter in the agreement signed with the Union Government by the oil marketing companies.

Kumar took over from Vishnu Agrawal, Director (Finance) of MRPL, who held additional charge as MD from August 1, following the superannuation of PP Upadhya.
