Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has called upon NTPC-BHEL power equipment venture to expedite the project implementation.
Preliminary works on the project have been completed but the State Government is keen that the project works are expedited.
The Chief Minister wanted support infrastructure to be developed to pave away for the project execution.
The project is seen as a major employer and also activating local business and small ancillary units.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for the project at Mannavaran near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
The project has seen considerable delays in taking forward due to hurdles in land acquisition and other clearances. Even the foundation stone was laid after considerable delay.
