Telugu Desam Party Chief, N Chandrababau Naidu, has indicated that he will take oath in Seemandhra as assured to people of the region during his campaign.

However, there is no clarity about the venue where he would take the oath. Party circles said Naidu has zeroed in on Tirupati or Vijayawada for the swearing-in ceremony. But he is yet to take a final call.

The TDP-BJP alliance has secured 106 seats of 175 seats and on course to formation of a new Government.

A section of the party leaders favour Tirupati as commencement of governance in the new state from the temple town could be auspicious.

But another section is firm on Vijayawada as the venue as the city was centrally located in Seemandhra and could be accessed by people from across the new state to attend the ceremony.

Late last evening after the results poured in, Naidu stated he had decided to have the ceremony in Seemandhra region. “I will take oath in Seemandhra as I have decided not to give scope for friction by organising the ceremony in Hyderabad. I had also assured party workers and leaders that I will take oath in their midst.”

Naidu said that the date for his swearing-in ceremony has not been fixed owing to some technicalities regarding the functioning of the new state and also regarding its notification.

The appointed date for formation of new States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (Seemandhra) is June 2.

Referring to lack of clarity on where the new capital would be, he said that the issue would be sorted out soon.
