A team of South Korean Red Cross officials entered North Korea on Friday to prepare for a series of reunions of families separated by the Korean War, Yonhap News Agency reported.
A team of 13 Red Cross officials headed to a North Korean resort at Mount Kumgang, where the reunions will take place on September 25-30, Yonhap reported.
The Koreas agreed last month to hold the first reunions in three years of families separated by the 1950-53 Korean War.
On Monday, the two countries swapped lists of about 100 families from each side who will be attending the event.
About 20,000 people from both Koreas have taken part in 18 reunion events and 7 teleconferences between 1985 and 2010, TV Chosun reported.
The family reunions indicate a further easing of ties between the two Koreas, after the reopening of a jointly run industrial park in North Korea Monday, after a five-month closure.
