Alstom Bharat Forge Power Ltd (ABFPL) said it has received an order for supply and commissioning of three 660 MW coal-fired, supercritical turbine generator islands (TGI) worth Rs 2,251 crore from NTPC.
ABFPL is a power equipment manufacturing joint-venture between Bharat Forge and Alstom Power Holdings SA.
The order includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the turbine islands.
The TGI is for a project at Nabinagar, Bihar, owned by Nabinagar Power Generating Co, which is a joint venture between NTPC and the Bihar State Electricity Board.
“The order strengthens the resolve of Bharat Forge’s joint venture with Alstom to contribute significantly to enable India achieve self-reliance in its energy security,” said Baba Kalyani, Chairman, ABFPL.
In April 2012, ABFPL secured an order worth Rs 1,570 crore for supply of 2x660 MW coal-fired supercritical TGI for NTPC’s project in Solapur, Maharashtra.
The Solapur and Nabinagar orders are part of NTPC’s bulk tender in 2011 in which ABFPL was the lowest bidder.
