Eaton eyes aerospace business in India

Eaton Corporation will keep a close eye on the aerospace market in India and has plans to enter this business segment in the country.

“India offers significant opportunities in the aerospace market,” Mr Alexander Cutler, Chairman and CEO, Eaton Corporation said.

“We are already doing significant aerospace engineering in Pune,” he said, adding that the company will decide what to produce depending upon the needs of the local airlines and the Defence which will become clear in time.

He evaluated the size of the investment opportunity in this segment at $110 billion.

Today Eaton announced the establishment of an integrated test lab for its vehicle and hydraulics products at Ranjangaon. Located within the premises of its existing truck components plant, the lab has 38,000 sq.ft of testing area.

“The new integrated test lab is an investment in efficient product design and innovation for our customers and will add significant value to our local manufacturing and engineering efforts,” Mr Cutler said. The company will add 200 people in professional services and at the Engineering Centre during 2011.
