Hero sales up marginally in Feb, Bajaj Auto down

The country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp on Monday said the company had sold 5,04,181 two-wheelers in February, marginally up, compared with 5,01,271 units in the corresponding month last year.

“We have been consistently selling over five lakh units a month, and this is clearly indicative of the inherent market demand for our products. There has been an excise duty cut in February and we have passed on the benefit to our customers,” said Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp. “We plan to create further excitement in the market with four models — the newer versions of Pleasure, Xtreme, Karizma and ZMR — ready to roll out later this month,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto reported a 6 per cent decline in sales in February. It sold 2,73,323 units against 2,91,297 units in the same month last year.

Hero MotoCorp’s shares closed at ₹1,958.05 on the BSE on Monday, down 0.36 per cent from the previous close. Bajaj Auto’s shares were also down at ₹1,913.65 1.50 per cent from the previous close.
