Senco Gold plans to raise Rs 100 cr from PE funds

The Rs 1,200-crore unlisted Senco Gold Jewellers, a jewellery maker with retail chain, on Saturday said that it planned to raise Rs 100 crore from private equity funds.

In a statement, the company said that it aimed to take total tally of showrooms to 100 by 2018 from the current 58.

“We are eyeing a comprehensive growth of 20-25 stores across northern and western India by 2016-17”, it said. Now it has showrooms in three metro cities, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai, besides presence in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Jharkahand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab. The family-owned business has also integrated franchise route for growth.

The company is changing its brand identity to included diamonds. It also declared that Bengali film star Prosenjit Chatterjee and his wife Arpita have become Senco Gold & Diamonds brand ambassadors.
