The Subway restaurant chain has opened its 350th restaurant in India at Jalandhar. Subway opened its first outlet in Delhi in December 2001.
The chain’s plans for India are in line with its growth plans for Asia, with a target of opening more than 3,000 outlets by 2017. The sandwich chain is currently growing at a rate of 2,000 outlets per year, according to the company.
Robby Gulri, Area Development Manager, Subway India said the brand works closely with local chefs and regional suppliers to ensure a good balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings, specifically selected to appeal to the Indian palate. ll Subway restaurants are completely owned by local franchisees who are entrepreneurs.
Karan Veer Singh, owner of the new franchise at Jalandhar said, “Subway’s low start-up costs, simple operation, flexible floor plans and reputation attracted me to the concept.”
