Wind power company Suzlon Energy today said it has bagged an order to supply 17 units of 1.5 MW wind turbines from GAIL for its Karnataka project.
The power generated from this project would be sold to a local power distribution company under a long—term power purchase agreement (PPA) at the fixed preferential feed-in tariff, the company said in a statement issued here.
“We look forward to a long—term mutually beneficial association with GAIL,” Suzlon Group Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Tulsi Tanti said.
According to industry estimates, the order should be worth Rs 153 crore, as per the thumb rule of Rs 6 crore per mega watt. However, Suzlon did not confirm the same.
This is GAIL’s third wind energy project order placed with Suzlon, the release said. Suzlon had earlier bagged two projects — 4.5 MW and 14.7 MW from GAIL at Gujarat.
Suzlon, with revenues of approximately $4 billion, has presence across Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and North and South America with over 17,000 MW of wind energy capacity installed in 28 countries, and has operations across 32 countries.
