The project involves establishment of 6 GW HVDC system between Bhadla and Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh along with 7500 MVA transmission capacity. This is part of a 20 GW renewable energy capacity coming up in Rajasthan.

The project will be completed in a little over four years and will be developed under a build, own, operate and transfer basis. Adani Energy won the project under the tariff based competitive bidding mechanism and REC Power Development & Consultancy. The special purpose vehicle was transferred to Adani Energy on Monday.

“By enabling efficient evacuation of renewable energy from some of the most inhospitable regions of the country and connecting them to the national grid, AESL is playing its role in India’s decarbonization journey. We will be deploying latest technology and practices to deliver the project in time and with minimal environmental impact,” said Kandarp Patel, CEO.

With this order, the company’s order book stood at ₹54,761 crore, it said.

The company said it was the only player in the private sector to own an HVDC asset, which is preferred for long-distance power transmission. The Bhadla-Fatehpur project is its third HVDC project after the delivered Mundra – Mahendragarh Project and the under implementation Aarey-Kudus Project.
