The new Q5 has new elements in design, infotainment, assistance systems and engines.

Audi India on Thursday launched a new version of its Q5 priced between Rs 43.16 lakh and Rs 48.71 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).

The earlier version that was launched in mid-2009 was priced between Rs 41.25 lakh and Rs 47.68 lakh.

The new version of the sports utility vehicle will be available in three types of engines -- 2.0 TDIq (diesel), 3.0 TDIq (diesel) and 2.0 TFSIq (petrol) – with the fuel economy improved by up to 15 per cent.

As per the Automotive Research Association of India, the diesel variants would give a mileage of 14.6 km/litre and 11.81 by the petrol one.

“There are a host of design and mechanical changes that strongly accentuate the sporty and distinctive off road character of the Audi Q5,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

The company sold 9,003 cars in India last year, up 63 per cent from 5,511units in 2011. It grew its sales in December also with more than 100 per cent at 931 units compared with 394 units in same month in 2011.

“We hope to continue our impressive performance and mark an equally strong growth in 2013 despite uncertain economic conditions,” Perschke added.
