Anutosh Maitra, CEO, SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant, has been conferred with the SMS-Demag Excellence Award for 2014 by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM).
The award is for a turnaround of the plant and setting a number of records and developing new products. During his tenure one of the plant’s blast furnace breached the threshold of 5000 tonnes of daily production for the first time. He has been instrumental in stopping the plant from recurring breakdowns.
Maitra took special efforts to spearhead development of 10 special value added products during past couple of years. These include for lighter and stronger steel for railway wagons, LPG cylinders and auto body components.
