Bajaj Auto’s bike sales were down by 22 per cent in March 2015 to stand at around 2.1 lakh units versus 2.7 lakh units in the same month of 2014.

With three-wheeler sales growing by 21 per cent, the company’s total sales (two and three wheelers) saw a dip of 18% YoY to stand at 2.5 lakh units against 3.04 lakh units last year.

The dip in sales comes on the back of exports taking a hit. The last few quarters had seen robust growth in exports that had given the company’s sales a boost, though domestic sales have been falling.

Bajaj Auto exported 98703 units in Mar 15 against 1.18 lakh units in mar 14, representing a drop of 16%. The company however added this figure excludes 17468 units which are in transit.

During mid morning trade on the BSE, the Bajaj Auto stock was trading at Rs 1,998 a piece, a loss of Rs 20.65 (down 1.02%) per share.
