Berger Paints plans Rs 100 cr capex

Berger Paints would double the installed capacity in the next two years, a company official said.

Mr Subir Bose, Managing Director, Berger Paints said the company would invest Rs 100 crore in greenfield and brownfield projects during the current fiscal.

The company was setting up its greenfield project at Hindpur in Andhra Pradesh.

Its target capacity has been revised to 3,20,000 kl per tonne per annum for water based paints, and 100,000 kl per tonne per annum for emulsions, Mr Bose said.

The company would not increase the price of paints immediately despite increase in input costs, Mr Bose told reporters after Berger’s AGM here today.

In the first quarter, the company had three times increased the prices of paints.

The Chairman of Berger Paints, Mr K S Dhingra said the company was not looking for acquisitions at the moment.
