Bharat Forge opens gearbox service facility in Hosur

The Indian joint venture between leading global gearing expert David Brown and Bharat Forge, manufacturer of automotive and non-automotive components, called David Brown-Bharat Forge, has opened its first industrial gearbox service and assembly facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The new facility was officially opened by S.P. Singh, Director, NTPC. Singh said, “As the largest power utility company in India, NTPC welcomes David Brown and Bharat Forge’s decision to join forces and form a joint venture company for the local market. Both partners have decades of combined experience.” The 56,000 square foot service, repair and assembly centre provides support to customers across India. Service Centre Manager Kumaran Vajravel spoke about the vast range of equipment including a 100-tonne hydraulic vertical press, lathe, milling machine, a spray booth and other service-specific tools and equipment alongside gearboxes from wind and steel applications that have already been sent to the centre for repair. Venkatesh Subramanyam, Chief Executive of David Brown Bharat Forge, said: “We have plans to service India’s industries with a network of local gearbox service and assembly centres providing access to David Brown’s industry leading products and solutions. This will ultimately reduce downtime and the cost of ownership for customers in the region.”
