Air-conditioning and refrigeration major Blue Star has forayed into the in-built water purifier segment through collaboration with Eureka Forbes and expects Rs 250 crore revenue by 2018.

“This is the first time, Blue Star and Eureka Forbes, together are offering this product. This is important part of it. We are leaders in water cooling and Eureka Forbes is a leader in water purification,” Blue Star Executive Director and President, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Business, B Thiagarajan told reporters here.

The company would roll-out Blue Star storage water coolers with in-built Aquaguard water purifiers, priced at Rs 66,000 for 80 litre storage capacity and Rs 88,000 for 120 litre storage capacity.

Eureka Forbes President-International Operations, A V Suresh said, “There is a lot of synergy between the two companies. We have got innovative ideas to put forward. When we get together, the market expectation is very high.”

Thiagarajan said the company would cater to commercial institutions through this collaboration and expects to garner Rs 250 crore revenue by 2018.

“Our conservative expectation is that each of us should reach Rs 125 crore revenue three years down the line. The market size is expected to be Rs 300 crore by 2018”, he said.

The refrigeration portion like the compressor for these products would be manufactured at our Himachal Pradesh facility, he added.
