DCIL inks MoU with WAPCOS to identify suitable future projects

The Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with WAPCOS Limited to jointly identify suitable future projects and carry out geotechnical investigation and engineering consultancy in fields like Water Resources, Power and Infrastructure Port and Harbour dredging.

The other areas include shallow water dredging, beach nourishment, lake rehabilitation, flood management, erosion control, river morphology and other related sectors.

WAPCOS Limited is a mini-ratna public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation, release from DCIL said here Monday.

The MoU was signed by the Managing Director (MD) of DCIL Rajesh Tripathi as well as Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of WAPCOSR K Gupta at New Delhi.

With DCIL planning to enter newer areas like water body rejuvenation, sand mining and inland dredging, the MoU is expected to bring in synergy complimenting both the players.

Recently, DCIL has been in talks with various state governments on issues of mutual interest in the field of dredging and related activities.

The MoU assumes special significance and is expected to be a win-win alliance for DCI and WAPCOS, the release added.
