Dr Reddy’s recalls hypertension drug

Dr Reddy's has voluntarily initiated the recall of 13,560 bottles of Metropolol through a letter to the FDA last month.

Pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has voluntarily recalled its hypertension drug, Metoprolol Succinate extended release tablets, from the US market.

According to a notification of the US Food and Drug Administration on its Website, the recall was classified as Class II and was due to failure in a dissolution test last month.

Over 13,000 bottles of the drug were being recalled. When contacted, Dr Reddy’s spokesperson told BusinessLine that it was a voluntary recall with ‘negligible’ financial implications.
