Electric vehicles (EVs) and clean energy technologies besides road safety seem to be the key theme of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which opens for the public on Sunday. The Expo comes at a time when consumers are keen to understand their future mobility choices and the government is strongly rooting for EVs. It was no wonder then that almost 80 per cent of new launches by automakers are in the EV segment in this edition of the Expo.

Some of these new launches with futuristic designs will be soon seen on the Indian roads while others are concepts that give a peek into the future of electric mobility. Consumers will also see launches by debutants in the Indian automobile sector such as Vietnam-based Vinfast, which unveiled two premium electric SUVs - VF 7 and VF 6.

Clean energy pathways, technologies and products is also one of the key focus of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Cummins and Tata Motors are showcasing mobility solutions focusing on hydrogen and liquefied natural gas (LNG). This would enable consumers to witness first-hand how clean energy technologies are being implemented not only in terms of personal mobility solutions but also commercial vehicles and public transportation solutions.

SIAM collaboration

At the sidelines of the Expo, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) organised the 4th Global Electrification Mobility Summit on Saturday, which focused on the theme of “Electrification: Powering India’s EV Leap, Reaching the Tipping Point”. The Summit, which had H D Kumaraswamy, Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, as the guest of honour, brought together policymakers, global industry leaders and experts to chart the way forward for India’s electric mobility transformation.

SIAM yet again collaborated with various stakeholders to set up a pavilion that focuses on the theme “United Efforts for Road Safety: Safer Roads, Our Responsibility”. Stating that road safety remains a foundation of sustainable development, the industry body noted on its site that “the pavilion serves as a vibrant platform to unite stakeholders from across the spectrum to showcase cutting-edge solutions, drive awareness, and foster partnerships aimed at creating safer roads for everyone.”

The pavilion gives consumers a chance to test whether their driving skills meet safety parameters on stimulators and also hop on to the “seatbelt convincer,” that stimulates a low-impact vehicle collision to highlight the importance of seatbelts. The pavilion focuses on various aspects of road safety including emergency care on the road, the role of Global Automotive Research Centre as well the age-old adage, “Dont Drink and Drive”.
