Entertainment major Eros International along with Endemol India will invest Rs 100 crore to co-produce three feature films. Endemol India is a leading producer of television content and has collaborated with Eros to produce feature films for the first time.

As a part of deal, Eros International and Endemol India will be co-producing an action comedy, a remake of a South Indian blockbuster, an original romantic comedy and a comic caper. Targeted at Bollywood buffs, the first film will be a romantic comedy, which will go on floors later this year.

With Eros recently announcing its entry into premium television with HBO, television formats and original programming for television is another area that Eros and Endemol will collaborate on and many of Eros-owned film Intellectual Property Rights will be considered for adaptation for the television format and vice versa for Endemol-owned Intellectual Property Right.

“While film co-production has its natural synergies, we will also create original high quality compelling television content as digitisation takes Indian television into the premium subscription phase. The alliance is founded on the coming together of our respective core competencies in film and television,” Jyoti Deshpande, Executive Director, Eros International.

While Endemol has produced serials such as Bigg Boss and Fear Factor , Eros International had a series of hits last year with movies such as English Vinglish and Vicky Donor . It has a library of close to 2,000 films.

This alliance will also be extended to the small screen with Endemol India exploring new formats with Eros International to create high-end scripted content for the Indian television audiences.
