The Federation of Indian Export Organisations has partnered with eBay India and PayPal to promote exports through e-commerce from the country.

This tie-up would help Indian retail exporters sell online to 100 million plus global consumers in 190 markets and accept payments in 25 currencies.

FIEO is the apex body of all export promotion councils, commodity boards and export development authorities in the country, eBay India is an e-commerce marketplace and PayPal, a global online payments provider.

Mr Rafeeque Ahmed, President, FIEO, said, “We have been focussing on diversification of product baskets and markets. We now need to identify and adopt additional export sales channel like ecommerce to reach out to customers directly and reduce cost of products to end users.”

TRAINING

FIEO will educate eBay and PayPal merchants on understanding export policies, procedures, incentives and benefits available to exporters. In addition, PayPal will train retail exporters on how they can expand their business and start selling online to global consumers.

The tie-up is expected to help MSMEs numbering more than 30 million who can make use of eBay's global market place and accepting secure and seamless international payments enabled by PayPal, he added.
