GM India sold 1,776 units of the Beat, 1,249 units of the Tavera and 987 units of the Chevrolet Enjoy in June.

General Motors India has sold 5,172 vehicles in June, a 21 per cent fall compared with the 6,575 units sold during the corresponding period of last year.

These include 1,776 units of Beat, 1,249 units of Tavera and 987 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.

“Customer sentiment continues to remain negative even with a price reduction on account of the continuation of the excise duty cuts till the year-end. Going by the market scenario, we expect challenging times to continue as the general economic conditions have not improved,” said P Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India.

“Buoyancy in the market is still missing and we don’t see any sustained market upturn till the new Government presents a growth-oriented Budget to boost the overall economy,” he said.

“Unless structural bottlenecks ease and economic fundamentals improve, the market is unlikely to turnaround in the short-term,” Balendran added.
