HFCL Limited, a technology and communications solutions provider, inaugurated a new defence equipment manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu on December 23, 2024, expanding its footprint in India’s defence manufacturing sector.
The shares of HFCL Limited were trading at ₹113.95 up by ₹1.35 or 1.20 per cent on the NSE today at 2.55 pm.
The facility will manufacture Thermal Weapon Sights, Electronic Fuzes, High Capacity Radio Relay (HCRR) systems, and Surveillance Radars. It has an annual production capacity of 5,000 Thermal Weapon Sights, 2 lakh Electronic Fuzes, and 1,000 units each of HCRR and Ground Surveillance Radars.
Former DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy, who attended the inauguration, urged HFCL to focus on becoming a global exporter of defence products while reducing import dependency.
The facility features specialised 10,000 Class and 1,00,000 Class clean rooms for Thermal Imaging Core and Thermal Weapon Sights production. HFCL’s Managing Director Mahendra Nahata said the facility will deliver world-class defense technologies to armed forces.
The company’s product range includes thermal sights compatible with small arms, electronic fuzes with programmable features, HCRR systems supporting 100 Mbps tactical communications, and surveillance radars using FMCW technology for threat detection.
The new facility aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and aims to enhance the country’s defense export capabilities while creating local employment opportunities.
