Leading micro-irrigation company Jain Irrigation Systems is eyeing double-digit growth in revenue this fiscal and is looking at strengthening its presence through end-to-end solutions.

“We have presence in Africa, but we feel there is much more potential in the continent and many countries where we can lend our expertise.

We want to strengthen our presence through end-to-end solutions, from creating of resource (water), usage of water appropriately and market linkage,” Jain Irrigation Managing Director Anil Jain told PTI here.

He said 60 per cent of Africa is arable, which means with the right use of technology, the continent can become the global food basket in future. The company has presence in 116 countries.

The company is also expecting overall double-digit growth during this financial year, he said.

“We are expecting about 15 per cent growth in our piping business, and if everything remains well then it may go up to 20 per cent.

“Our irrigation segment is expected to grow 10 per cent.

Our food processing business is doing well and in this segment, we are expecting 15-20 per cent growth this fiscal.

We also expect growth in our community projects,” Jain said.

Talking about the food processing business, Jain said that the company is looking at expanding into fruits and vegetables segment and is also foraying into the spice space in 2016-17.

“We are setting up a spice processing plant in Nasik (Maharashtra) with an investment of Rs 50 crore in the next financial year. We will process spices like black pepper, turmeric, ginger, cumin and chilli,” he added.

Jain Irrigation is the leading global mango processor and also sells dehydrated onions and vegetable products, fruit purees, concentrates, clarified juices and frozen products under the ‘Farm-Fresh’ brand in India and abroad.

It is also the only Indian company that has made it to the list of Fortune’s 51 companies that are changing the world.
