Medfort to invest Rs 100 cr for expansion

Healthcare provider Medfort Maxivision plans to invest over Rs 100 crore in the next two years to expand its presence in the country, a top company official said here today.

Hyderabad-based eye care chain Maxivision was acquired by Medfort Hospitals in an all-cash deal in August 2011.

Following the merger, Medfort Hospitals was renamed ‘Medfort Maxivision Group’ The group is promoted by Chairman G.S.K. Velu and Co-Chairman, Mr Kasu Prasad Reddy.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the company’s first Combo Lasik suite and three hospitals here, Mr Velu said anyone aged between 16 and 50 could undergo Lasik surgery as opposed to the earlier 19-30 age restriction.

Stating the company plans to have a presence in 20 cities in the next two years, he said they have invested Rs 10 crore for the first combo lasik suite and raised Rs 100 crore for expansion plans. “We have raised Rs 100 crore through TVS Capital,” he said.

The Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr K. Rosaiah, inaugurated the first combo lasik suite and unveiled three hospitals via a video conferencing facility.

A company statement, quoting a study, said more than 15 million blind people of the 37 million blind across the globe are from India.
