Public sector National Aluminium Co Ltd will maintain the Gandhi Smruti Pitha, a Gandhi memorial park on the Puri beach, for the next 10 years.
The Bhubaneswar-headquartered company had set up the park in 2002, at a cost of Rs 50 lakh and subsequently handed it over to Puri-Konark Development Authority. However, seeing the present decrepit state, Nalco CMD TK Chand announced the maintenance of the Park by the company for the next ten years.
“We shall make it a major tourist attraction,” said Chand during a visit of the city on Monday. Nalco will also renovate the Gandhi Library there, as also the mural and watchtower,” Chand added.
