Ola’s Krutrim, an AI unicorn, has launched Kruti, what it claims is India’s first agentic AI assistant designed to go far beyond conventional chatbots.

Kruti will move from passive responses to proactive, agentic task execution, an upgrade from Krutrim’s earlier public beta chatbot, bringing a redesigned assistant experience with advanced reasoning and personalisation at its core.

Kruti delivers task execution across cab booking, food ordering, bill payments, image creation, and in-depth research, while supporting read-aloud responses. Additionally, it offers advanced AI features like in-depth research and image creation free of cost for users.

Unique features

It understands voice and text input, remembers past interactions, and tailors responses in tone, length, and language, including 13 Indian languages. Its multi-modal capabilities are powered by the Krutrim V2 LLM and state-of-the-art open-source models.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder of Krutrim, said, “Kruti is the first real step towards the future of AI where technology doesn’t just talk back, but helps you get things done. We have built Kruti to work the way Indians live: multilingual, mobile-first, and intuitive. It is deeply personal, incredibly capable, and ready to take everyday complexity off your plate. With Kruti, we take a step ahead in building trust, utility, and a truly Indian AI experience for all.”

The company said Kruti learns user preferences, adapts to usage over time, and integrates with various apps and services, delivering context-aware assistance with minimal effort. It also offers a fully embeddable software development kit for developers, enabling third-party platforms to offload LLM orchestration, memory management, and tool execution with minimal code.

Launched in 2023, Krutrim has raised $50 million at a valuation of $1 billion, making it the first start-up unicorn in the country in 2024.

Earlier this year, Aggarwal also announced an investment of ₹2,000 crore in Krutrim, with a commitment of ₹10,000 crore by next year. He also launched an AI lab with LLMs Krutrim-2 and Krutrim 1, multilingual vision language model Chitrarth-1; speech LLM Dhwani-1, Krutrim Translate for text-to-text translation, and BharatBench, a platform that evaluates and sets benchmarks.

The company’s shares closed at ₹47.24 today, down by 2.44 per cent.
