The 1-tonne light-duty electric truck is designed to address last-mile delivery needs in urban areas. Featuring a 15-minute fast-charging capability, the vehicle aims to be a practical alternative to traditional internal combustion engine trucks, focusing on reducing emissions and operational costs, Uday Narang, Founder and Chairman of Omega Seiki Pvt. Ltd told businessline.

The Mika 1.0 offers battery options of 10.24 kWh, 15 kWh, and 21 kWh, providing ranges of 90 km, 120 km, and 170 km per charge, respectively. This ensures the possibility of additional trips per day, which increases earnings while supporting last-mile connectivity. The vehicle is powered by a water-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a peak torque of 67 Nm, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications. With a payload capacity of 850 kg, it also comes with a warranty of 5 years or 1.5 lakh km, whichever comes first. Attractive financing schemes with competitive interest rates will be offered.

Narang highlighted that the Mika 1.0 is designed not only for individual owners who rely on it for their livelihood but also for the rapidly electrifying fleet segment. He emphasised the importance of affordable EV options in the market. Omega Seiki is focusing on flexible charging solutions, with the truck being compatible with standard CCS chargers and offering an optional battery-swapping feature in a variant, priced around ₹5 lakh.

The company plans to launch the Mika 1.0 in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Delhi in April, with a launch in Hyderabad planned for later.

Omega Seiki is also preparing for a pre-IPO round within the next three months, followed by an IPO within the year. The funds raised will support the expansion of its truck division. “We are laying a strong foundation for growth, with the pre-IPO process already in progress,” said Narang.

The company will initially manufacture the Mika range at its facility in Faridabad, with a new plant dedicated to truck production being set up in Chakan, Pune, expected to be operational by the end of 2025. This expansion will boost Omega Seiki’s production capacity from 5,000 units per year to 25,000 units by the end of 2025.
