R Power profit up at Rs 266 cr on higher generation

Reliance Power has posted a 15 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 266 crore (Rs 231 crore) for the quarter-ended March 2013, on the back of higher generation. Total income rose 77 per cent to Rs 1,247 crore (Rs 532 crore).

For FY13, total income was Rs 4,926 crore (Rs 2,019 crore) and net profit Rs 1,011 crore (Rs 867 crore).

Capacity addition during the year totalled 1,300 MW, with 600 MW at Butibori (Maharashtra), 660 MW (of 4,000 MW) at Sasan and 40 MW of solar power at Rajasthan becoming operational.

The 1,200-MW Rosa plant at Uttar Pradesh generated eight billion units and the PV plant in Rajasthan 40 million units in their first year of operation.

J.P. Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This year also saw the first full year operation of our 1,200 MW Rosa project in Uttar Pradesh and the 40-MW Solar PV project in Rajasthan which resulted in record generation and profitability. Our operating revenues increased by 144 per cent and net profit by 17 per cent in FY12-13”.

On Monday, R Power’s scrip closed 3.06 per cent lower at Rs 77.50 on the BSE.
