Retail FDI: Sharma to hold talks with CMs of Punjab, Haryana

The Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Anand Sharma, will ascertain the views of the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, and the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on FDI in multi-brand retail during a meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday.

Mr Sharma, accompanied by a high-level delegation from his Ministry, will also discuss industrial growth and industrial projects in these States and also issues pertaining to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, an official statement said today. Mr Sharma had already written to the Punjab Chief Minister on FDI in multi-brand retail. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Mr Vijay Bahuguna, on Wednesday backed FDI in multi-brand retail and asked the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to implement it. He said the move will benefit farmers and consumers.
