Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SPPL) has sewn up plans to launch eight more television models during the year, expanding its product portfolio while consolidating its market share.
A Kodak brand licensee, SPPL announced the roll out of the 43UHDX Smart TV priced at Rs 23,999, to be offered on Flipkart and offline stores, later this month. The TV comes equipped with a dual core 1.4 GHz processor, 1 GB memory and flash storage of up to 8 GB.
Avneet Singh Marwah, Director and CEO of SPPL, said, “Kodak HD LED TVs have been the most affordable category brands and the launch of new models will further consolidate our position.”
“We have three manufacturing facilities in the country, at Noida, Jammu and Himachal Pradesh, with a cumulative capacity to make 50,000 units per month. We are now exploring the possibility of setting up a manufacturing facility in the South, Marwah told
“Though we are yet to finalise plans for a new facility in the South, we are in the process of exploring various locations. This could be anywhere in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu,” he said.
The company is planning to close the current financial year with sales of over 2 lakh TVs and take this up to 3.5 lakh units in 2019-2020.
“There has been some uncertainty about various tax/ policy issues with regard to TVs in the country. This has been partially sorted out by exempting TVs up to 32 inches. However, we are keen that the government extends a similar structure for TVs up to 43 inches,” he said.
With previous launches of the 55-inch and 50-inch Kodak 4K UHDX Smart LEd TVs and the addition of a 43-inch model, SPPL expects to further consolidate its market presence.
“After the first product launch in 2016, it has been a delightful journey. We plan to garner market share of about 6 per cent by 2020,” he said.
