Tata Global Beverages net spurts 25% to Rs 80 cr

Tata Global Beverages Ltd reported a 25 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 80 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2012. The net consolidated sales also increased 6 per cent at Rs 1,915 crore. 

This reflects an improved performance coupled with a favourable foreign exchange translation impact.

The standalone profit from operations for the quarter at Rs 179 crore is 13 pre cent higher than that in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, reflecting improved operating performance in the branded and non-branded businesses and the favourable impact of cost interventions. 

Tata Global Beverages’ focus on category expansion and innovations in tea, coffee and water continue to yield results. Its entry into the fast-moving and ultra convenient world of single-serve beverages with the launch of Tetley Tea discs through an agreement with Kraft in Canada and Eight O’ Clock K cups in the US through an agreement with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc (GMCR) has been well received by consumers.

Tata Water Plus — India’s first nutrient water — and Tata Gluco Plus, a glucose-based flavored drink, have established a strong presence in Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Tata Gluco Plus is available in two flavours — lemon and orange.
