Tata Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd has synchronised the fourth 800 MW unit of its Mundra power plant in Gujarat.
With this Tata Power’s total power generation capacity stands at 7699 MW, making it the largest integrated power company as well as private power producer in the country.
Tata Power commissioned the first 800 MW unit at the Mundra power plant in March 2012, unit 2 in July and unit 3 in October 2012. With the synchronisation of unit 4, the total thermal power generation capacity of Tata Power now stands at 6847 MW and that through hydropower, wind and solar 852 MW.
Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, said, “The synchronisation of Unit 4 of the Mundra ultra mega power project is a significant milestone given the critical power shortage situation in the country. The Mundra power plant is one of the most efficient and environment-friendly plants based on super critical technology.”
