French multinational Thales has won a contract to provide automatic fare collection (AFC) systems for the second phase of Rapid Metro Gurgaon, operated by IL&FS Rail Ltd. The company, however, declined to share the size of the contract. Rapid Metro is connected to the Delhi Metro system and the two have inter-operable ticketing systems. Thales also has orders to provide AFC systems for New Delhi Metro and the first phase of Rapid Metro, Gurgaon operated by IL&FS Rail Ltd, a release said.
