thyssenkrupp Steering partners with LTTS for India software hub

L&T Technology Services (LTTS) will establish and manage a software development centre in Pune, for thyssenkrupp Steering under a strategic partnership announced today. The facility will focus on developing safety-critical software for advanced steering technologies.

The collaboration positions LTTS to serve as the operational partner for the German automotive supplier’s software expansion in India. The Pune centre will concentrate on embedded systems, functional safety and cybersecurity development to support intelligent and connected vehicle technologies.

thyssenkrupp Steering, which develops steering systems for over 30 million vehicles annually, operates from its headquarters in Eschen, Liechtenstein, with more than 10,000 employees across 24 global locations. The company has been advancing electrical/electronic architectures and software capabilities, including Vehicle Motion Control systems for autonomous driving applications.

LTTS, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, serves 69 Fortune 500 companies in its mobility segment. The company has been recognised as a leader in automotive engineering services and maintains over 24,250 employees across 23 global design centres.

Next-geneneration steering solutions

Richard Hirschmann, SVP R&D at thyssenkrupp Steering, said the centre will drive innovation for next-generation steering solutions. LTTS CEO Amit Chadha highlighted the partnership as validation of the company’s leadership in mobility electrification and software-defined vehicle architectures.

The partnership strengthens both companies’ positions in the automotive software development market as the industry shifts toward more intelligent vehicle systems.

The shares of LTTS were trading at ₹4,405.10, up by ₹19.50 or 0.44 per cent on the NSE at the closing bell.
