Titan begins production at Rs. 75-cr facility in Tamil Nadu

Watch manufacturing major Titan Company today commenced stainless steel watch case production at its manufacturing facility located at Kannampalayam on the outskirts of Coimbatore.

The day marks the 175th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the founding father of Tata Group.

Set up at a cost of over Rs. 75 crore, the new plant has an installed capacity to manufacture one million cases a year, a top official of the company said.

The plant is expected to cater to the demand for premium watches.

Talking to newspersons on a plant visit, Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, said the commissioning of the case plant stands testimony to the company’s belief and commitment to watch manufacturing.

The plant addresses the capability of all domains of stainless steel case manufacturing from tool design, tool manufacture, press shop, machining, polishing and assembly, supported by related service functions such as planning, facilities management, machine maintenance, costing and quality management.
