Honda India will recall 42,672 second generation City model cars, manufactured between 2007 and 2008, to replace power window switches.

The switches may malfunction in case water or any other liquid enters the window on the driver’s side, Honda Cars India said in a statement.

“HCIL is carrying out the part update as a preventive measure, although no such problem has been reported from anywhere in India,” it added.

The company said that the third-generation Honda City being currently sold in India was not affected.

The replacement will be done free of cost at HCIL dealerships, and the owners will be contacted in a phased manner. The company has 152 dealerships in 98 cities.

Honda Cars said it was carrying out the replacement as part of a global exercise to ensure stringent quality standards for its products.

JAZZ not affected

Referring to the global recall of around 700,000 Fit (sold as Jazz in India) hatchback for a similar problem, the company said it will not impact the Jazz in India.

Honda Motor Company recall includes 1.43 lakh units in the US made between 2007 and 2008.

The company has advised owners to park their cars outdoors until the switches are inspected and replaced, if required.
