The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) on Thursday said the special tax Bench of the Supreme Court has disposed of 1,108 cases pertaining to indirect taxes. As a result, the pendency which was of cases starting with 2003 has come down to 2007-08, it added.

The special Bench functioned between April and December 2015 and has been re-constituted in April this year. The move comes at a time when the government has been trying to settle disputes with tax payers and has also has raised the monetary threshold for filing appeals by its officers before tribunals and courts.
