As many as 11,500 new Chartered Accountants (CAs) have been minted in the recent November edition of CA exams, according to ICAI.
Taken together with 20,446 candidates qualifying in May 2024, the current year at 31,946 has been the best in the post Covid era in terms of number of chartered accountants.
In 2023, about 22,080 candidates qualified as chartered accountants. In 2022, 26,250 candidates cleared the CA final exams.
Two candidates — Heramb Maheshwari (Hyderabad) and Rishab Ostwal (Tirupati) secured the All India first rank and one each got second and third in the CA final exams in recent November edition.
Currently, there are 4.25 lakh chartered accountant members in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is the world’s largest accounting body.
Meanwhile, ICAI has successfully concluded the 26th Council and 25th Regional Councils Elections.
32 Central Council Members and 64 Regional Council Members, elected through a preferential voting process . The New Council Term will be effective from Feb 12 next year.
On the occasion, Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President ICAI, said, “The election saw participation of approx. 1,64,500 of eligible members voting for shaping the future of the accounting profession in India. I extend my best wishes to the newly elected members of the Council and Regional Councils and look forward to their contributions in taking ICAI to newer heights.”
