The Association of Power Producers (APP) has announced the appointment of Mr Ashok Kumar Khurana as its first Director-General.
An IAS officer of 1976 batch of the UP cadre, Mr Khurana was former Additional Secretary for Power at the Centre.
Mr Khurana has worked as Director (Fund Bank) in the Department of Economic Affairs, where he was nodal Officer in charge of power sector.
As a long term consultant to the World Bank and thereafter as Power Advisor in the Department for International Development (DFID), UK, he has been involved with the power sector reform process in Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Accepting the appointment, Mr Khurana said: “I aim to channelise the associations' efforts to play a significant role in setting up large power generation capacities and contribute towards the nation's goal of ‘power to all'.
