Food Ministry refuses to take blame

The Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry has denied that it is to blame for the sharp reduction in industrial growth data for January.

Mr K.V.Thomas, Food and Consumer Affairs Minister, said, “My data depend upon the Agriculture Ministry and not from Sugar Commission.” On Thursday, the Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry blamed the Directorate of Sugar in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution for incorrect reporting of sugar production.
