MakeMyTrip has lauched an SMS-based service for “Anytime Anywhere Travel Assistance”. To avail this service, customers need to type “@mmt” and send it to 9266592665. They will receive service options for common customer needs — the platform accepts queries in natural language (not a strict pre-fixed format).

National Language Processing allows the user to ‘query’ in an intuitive (natural) way as opposed to structuring the query in a standard template.

Amit Somani, Chief Product Officer, MakeMyTrip said, “These address common customer queries that would otherwise have to be serviced by calling customer-care. These self-service solutions are available for a range of queries including flight status, schedule updates, currency conversion-rate, and city-specific information among others. Besides, customers can also search for and book flight products via SMS.”

MakeMyTrip collaborated with txtWeb to create this SMS-based platform. Availing this service is free. Anyone with a simple mobile phone can access the required information via SMS, the company said. There is no requirement of a data plan or internet connection, or any downloads and only standard SMS rates, as per the user plan, are levied for availing this service.

txtWeb is an open platform for SMS applications launched in India in 2011. It allows anyone with a simple mobile phone to discover and avail of services on the Internet via SMS.
