Social activist Mr Anna Hazare and members of his team on Wednesday met the Standing Committee of Parliament set up to study the Lokpal Bill.
Before going in for the meeting, Mr Hazare did not express any hope about the outcome of the meeting and reiterated his team's decision to carry forward the campaign for a stronger anti-graft law.
“There is nothing in the Bill that has been introduced in Parliament. It is just a show off. It has been drafted just to tell the people that we have a law to fight corruption. It will be of no use,” Mr Hazare told reporters. He said all issues that were set aside by the Government should be brought back.
Social activist Mr Arvind Kejriwal termed the meeting a mere ‘formality' and ‘waste of time'.
“If the Committee discusses the draft, it will be a waste of time for it also. There is nothing to discuss in the Bill,” he said.
When asked about the venue of the proposed fast by Mr Hazare on August 16, Mr Kejriwal said they were waiting for the Delhi Police to get back to them with various options.
The Lokpal Bill, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 4, was sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Law and Justice, Personnel and Public Grievances, headed by Congress leader, Mr Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
