Project Management Association (PMA) is establishing its chapter in Thiruvananthapuram. The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate the chapter on Monday at a function here.
The Vice-Chairman of State Planning Board, Mr K.M. Chandrasekhar, will deliver the keynote address.
Mr Dash Jain, national president of PMA, and Mr K. Jay Kumar, chief secretary, will be among the other dignitaries attending. Mr Jain has been the first non-European to head the International Project Management Association (IPMA).
PMA is the Indian-member association of the IPMA which spans 55 countries world-wide. “The huge economic and social costs of delayed projects are known to all of us,” says Mr Ajay Bhattacharya, executive director, PMA.
This could easily be avoided by using project management systems, processes and tools, which is a body of knowledge available with PMA.
A not-for-profit registered society established in 1993, PMA India has been serving cause of strengthening project management in India, he said.
PROJECT-ORIENTED
Its aim is to see a ‘project-oriented India’ where resources are optimised and costs minimised through sound processes and technique while ensuring timely delivery.
This is imperative not only for the private sector and the government but also NGOs delivering projects in the social sector.
